Washington Defense Trial Lawyers Elects New Officers
4 August 2006 Seattle, WA (PRWEB) August 3, 2006 -- Steve Stocker, a principal with Stamper, Rubens, Stocker & Smith P.S., Spokane, was voted President of the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers at their annual meeting in July. Stocker graduated from Washington State University 78' and Willamette University Law School 81' and has practiced in Spokane since graduation from law school with MacGillivray and Jones before joining Stamper, Rubens, Stocker & Smith, P.S. in 1989. He practices primarily in the areas of medical malpractice, products liability defense, insurance defense and commercial litigation. He is also the general counsel for Whitworth Water District in Spokane. Stocker served on the WDTL board of trustees from 1994-1997 and was appointed to board again in 2003. He is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel. He has served on the Ronald McDonald House of Spokane Board from 1991 to 2001, was elected President in 1999, and sits currently on the endowment board. He is single and has three children, Kevin, Hallie and Colton. Rick Roberts, a staff attorney with The Hartford, was voted President-elect of the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers at their annual meeting in July. Rick Roberts is a 1990 graduate of the Seattle University School of Law and was a Law Clerk / Bailiff to Hon. James P. Healy in Pierce County Superior Court and was a Law Clerk for the Attorney General Office, Tort Claims Division. He began his practice as an associate at Keating, Bucklin & McCormack and then served as a Special Deputy Prosecutor for King County before joining The Hartford as Staff Attorney in 1996. He was listed as a «Rising Star» in Washington Law & Politics for 2001, 2002 and 2003. His litigation defense practice focuses on personal injury tort-auto and premises liability. He has served on the WDTL Board of Trustees; as Chair of the Seminar and Legislative Committees and is the current Treasurer. Also elected were Emilia Sweeney of Lane Powell PC as Secretary and Ted Buck of Stafford Frey as Treasurer. New board members are Jayne Freeman of Keating, Bucklin & McCormack, Inc., P.S., A. Grant Lingg of Forsberg & Umlauf, Ryan Beaudoin of Witherspoon, Kelley, Davenport & Toole, P.S., Nat Green of Hollenbeck, Lancaster & Miller and Aaron Rocke of the Washington State Attorney General's Office. Washington Defense Trial Lawyers is a statewide association of civil defense attorneys dedicated to the highest professional standards of integrity, excellence and commitment to a fair and just legal system.
