Successful Attorney Overcame Adversity and Abuse and Now Motivates Others

26 February 2006

Attorney Susan Elliott has the ability to motivate people who struggle with adversity and the challenges of life, because that is the life she overcame to find success.

Men and women look to her as a role model they can identify with, and see in her the very skills the life they dream for themselves. Elliott takes take time from her busy law practice to give workshops and seminars in New York and Boston so she can help others find success.

"I thought I would live fast and die young." Elliott says, "And that was fine by me at the time, but the older I became, the more frustrated I felt. I was hurting, but I was clueless about how to change it." Victimized by repeated abuse in her youth, childhood, and marriage, it was her three children who motivated her to change her life. Now she helps others do the same thing.

Elliott, who is now a successful attorney, motivational speaker, instructor and teacher who loves training others to overcome their problems and pursue their goals. Other women with a dream to go into business who have struggled with abuse and adversity identify with Elliot and see her as a great source of inspiration to them.

Although she is a busy attorney with a demanding law practice, she has begun a series of workshops, classes, and seminars in New York and Boston entitled "Getting Past Your Past To Make Your Dreams Come True."

"Many of my students are people coming off a bad breakup, or in a place in their lives where they're just frustrated that things aren't happening for them. They are afraid they are stuck there. My message is that if I can change my entire life, anyone can. I help them to get motivated and show them that it can be done," explained Elliott.

Through hard work, perseverance and determination, she pulled herself out of chaos and misery to become a therapist, motivational keynote speaker, writer, and an attorney. She received a BA from Mount Holyoke College where she graduated with High Honors, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa; an M.Ed. from Cambridge College; and a J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.

She overcame the odds to find success, and now she is helping others to do the same through her inspirational seminars, workshops, and training.

"I love being a lawyer but I can't pretend my old life didn't exist. I have to give back because people were there for me when I needed help. Without them, I wouldn't have survived, so now I need to be there for others. Getting this message out is the most important thing I can do in my life," she said.

She has a web site at http://www.GettingPastYourPast.com where she provides more information.
