State Lawmakers to Probe Nursing Wages at Hearing Wednesday, Aug. 23;Legislative Committee's Action Follows Landmark Lawsuit
23 August 2006 News Advisory: WHAT: Two months after Illinois nurses joined a class-action suit charging the state's largest hospital systems with colluding to suppress their wages, a state legislative committee will hold a hearing to probe the issue on Monday. Nurses from around the Chicago-area will testify about wage inequities that have exacerbated a chronic shortage in the industry. The wage stagnation has inhibiting recruitment of new nurses and threatens to compromise the quality and availability of health care in Illinois.
