Patten is actively involved in many professional, civic and non-profit organizations. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona, Maricopa County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He serves as President of the Board of Newtown Community Development Corporation and is a member of the Community Land Trust of Tempe Advisory Council. He previously served as an officer and board member of the Tempe Community Council and as a commissioner with both the City of Tempe Transportation Commission and the City of Tempe Planning and Zoning Commission.
