Post & Schell Opens D.C. Law Office, Names Christopher J. Barr Resident Partner and Member of Growing National Energy Group
30 March 2006 Philadelphia-based Post & Schell, PC, is now offering its clients federal regulatory representation out of its new Washington, D.C. Office, and Christopher J. Barr, Esquire, a national authority on energy law formerly with Morgan Lewis & Bockius, joins the new office as a Resident Partner, Post & Schell CEO Brian M. Peters, Esquire, announced today. Mr. Barr joins a group of six other former Morgan, Lewis & Bockius colleagues -- energy and labor-employment attorneys - who have embraced the focused practice model at the steadily growing Post and Schell, a highly diversified, dynamic firm with seven offices and 160 lawyers. Barr is once again working with Post & Schell Energy Group co- chairs and noted energy attorneys Michael W. Gang and David B. MacGregor, who joined the firm last October. Barr's practice focuses on the regulation of natural gas utilities, oil pipeline companies and other energy industry interests. MacGregor is based in Philadelphia. Gang is resident in the Harrisburg Office. The new D.C. office is located at 1001 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Post & Schell's energy attorneys will provide integrated and coordinated legal services from all three offices. "We are incredibly fortunate to have Chris Barr, an outstanding attorney with a strong national practice play a significant role in what will be a comprehensive Washington, D.C. Office," notes Peters. "A logical extension of our existing national practices, this new, largely regulatory-based office allows us to enhance service across practice groups in diverse, highly regulated industries such as energy, construction, transportation, media/communications, and the full spectrum of healthcare, from skilled nursing facilities to academic medical centers and integrated delivery systems." "Our national clients face highly complex and challenging federal regulatory issues and we can better serve them by adding a substantial Washington component, "he adds. "We envision substantial growth in Washington well beyond our highly regarded energy practice." Regarding the energy practice, Peters says, "Our new energy practice has been very well received by our clients and we are now able to expand our services to include issues arising before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the U.S. Department of Energy." Barr, says, "I look forward to the continued representation of my energy sector clients and to introducing them to the highly experienced attorneys in complementary practice areas within Post & Schell." The former Morgan Lewis lawyer is a recognized authority on federal energy issues. He is a Member of the Federal Energy Bar Association (Past Chair of the Committees on Natural Gas Regulation and Oil Pipeline Regulation), and is the author of the transportation chapters to the American Gas Association's treatise on gas regulation, and addresses professional associations on energy-related maters. Barr is a graduate of Yale University and the George Washington University National Law Center. Born in Chicago and with strong ties to western Pennsylvania, he is married with two children.
