Post & Schell Adds Group of Prominent Energy and Labor Partners, Starts New Energy Practice
18 October 2005Michael W. Gang and David B. MacGregor, two of the leading members of Pennsylvania's energy bar, have joined Post & Schell, PC to establish a comprehensive statewide and national energy practice, Brian M. Peters, CEO of Post & Schell, said today. He also announced that veteran management labor/employment attorneys William J. Flannery and Vincent Candiello are also among the group of seven laterals, six of whom will be based out of Harrisburg. Peters said the addition of these top-tier attorneys, and the creation of a new energy practice, is significant for the entire firm, the steadily expanding Harrisburg Office, and all current and future clients. "We believe we now have the foremost, multi-faceted energy practice in Pennsylvania as a result of Michael and David joining the firm along with their talented team," said Peters. "They provide the perfect complement to our prominent, multi-disciplinary capital practice and give us the added capability of being able to handle current and emerging complex energy-related matters -- from rate making to transactions -- for any client in any jurisdiction at any level." He said that the new energy practice, co-chaired by Gang and MacGregor, also includes energy attorneys John Harrison Isom, Michael W. Hassell, and Anthony D. Kanagy. All of the new lawyers are joining Post & Schell from Morgan, Lewis Bockius, LLP. As for the new management labor/employment attorneys, Peters said, "Bill and Vince are the quintessential labor and employment lawyers with Bill focusing on management labor matters and Vince on management labor and employment issues that impact employers in Pennsylvania and nationwide." The new group of Post & Schell attorneys said they were attracted by the firm's vision, collaborative environment, and leadership. Gang has been practicing for the past 28 years and had been managing partner of the Harrisburg office of his prior firm. He represents a wide array of Pennsylvania public utilities including gas, electric, and water companies before state regulators regarding the full spectrum of complex legal and regulatory matters. He and MacGregor in recent years have collaborated on the representation of two major Pennsylvania electric companies and six major gas companies headquartered in the Commonwealth. Gang also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of The York Water Company. MacGregor, an attorney since 1978, is a recognized leader in the electric utility industry and is involved in major litigation and complex transactions on behalf of diversified energy businesses and large energy consumers. He appears before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as well as numerous state public utility commissions dealing with a host of complex matters including the sale and acquisition of power plants, energy supply contracts, ratemaking and competitive issues affecting the energy industry. Both highly experienced energy attorneys said the move to Post & Schell is exciting and invigorating. "Being based in Harrisburg, I have long admired the talent of their attorneys and the way Post & Schell conducts its practice," said Gang. "I have long admired the client-focused nature of their practice and their ability to consistently attract so many outstanding lawyers from excellent firms in the last several years. It is going to be a real honor to work with talented lawyers throughout the firm on behalf of their diverse client roster." "The new Energy Policy Act of 2005 was historic and has far-reaching implications in every state," said MacGregor. "It is reassuring to know that we have the seasoned attorneys and the practice resources necessary across the board to benefit our present and future clients as we enter this new era in the American energy industry."
