Past Presidents of Dallas Bar & State Bar of Texas Endorse Miers
22 October 2005Progress for America (PFA) today announced that past presidents of the Dallas Bar Association and State Bar of Texas traveled to DC to push for Harriet Miers' confirmation to the United States Supreme Court. Thirteen of Miers' former colleagues met with Attorney General Gonzales, Senator John Cornyn (Tex.), Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Senate staff to endorse her nomination.
"Unlike most of Harriet Miers' detractors, these lawyers and judges actually worked with Ms. Miers and know she has the qualifications, character and judicial temperament to make an excellent Supreme Court justice," said Brian McCabe, PFA's president.
The following past presidents of the Dallas Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas participated in meetings today at the Justice Department and on Capitol Hill to endorse Harriet Miers (complete bios available at http://www.JusticeMiers.com):
W. Mike Baggett, Jim Burnham, Robert Davis, Guy Harrison, Rhonda Hunter, Franklin Jones, Jr., Darrell Jordan, Lloyd Lochridge, Judge Jim Parsons, Mark Shank, Charles Smith, Blake Tartt, and Betsy Whitaker.
Additionally, the past presidents presented Senators with letters of endorsement (complete letters available at http://www.JusticeMiers.com).
