McCarthy Tétrault Elects Three New Board Directors

McCarthy Tétrault, Canada's leading full-service law firm, announced today the election of three new members to its Board of Partners. Blair Cowper-Smith, Philip Moore and Rosemarie Wertschek join the firm's 11-member Board.

McCarthy Tétrault was the first law firm in Canada to establish a new model of governance including professional management of the business of its partnership. Since 2002, partners have delegated authority to an elected board which in turn place managing authority in a Chief Executive Officer.

The new members bring a diverse range of experience to the Board:

Blair Cowper-Smith is a partner in the Business Law Group in Toronto, focusing on corporate and commercial law. He has held a number of management- related responsibilities for the firm including chairing the International Strategic Planning Committee.

Philip Moore is a partner in the Business Law Group in Toronto. He provides corporate and commercial advice to a number of public and private corporations and their boards of directors.

Rosemarie Wertschek, QC, is a partner in the Vancouver office practising in the Tax Group. She specializes in a broad range of tax matters including tax-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and financial structurings.
