Littler Boston Expands Again and Opens a Rhode Island Satellite

26 October 2005

Littler Mendelson, the nation's largest employment and labor law firm, announced today that George P. Kostakos, Esq. has joined its Boston office as a shareholder, and will open a Littler satellite office in Providence, Rhode Island.
The addition of Mr. Kostakos, an accomplished trial attorney, to an already outstanding lineup of employment and labor lawyers, gives the Firm's national and regional clients a stronger and broader base from which to defend against the complex employment litigation that large, multi-outlet businesses face throughout the nation.
"There are very few firms with the reach, firepower and sophistication to handle today's increasingly consequential employment and labor claims, and Littler is the best of them. I am very excited to be joining their team," said Kostakos.
Mr. Kostakos moves to Littler from Edwards & Angell, where, as a member of the litigation management practice group, he concentrated on aggressively defending his corporate clients against a range of employment claims, from discrimination and breach of contract to disputes arising out ERISA.
"George Kostakos is a highly regarded employment litigator with vast experience representing national clients whose footprints match up perfectly with Littler's," said Boston Managing Shareholder David Casey.
Kostakos is the fifth and latest attorney to join Littler Boston this year. Earlier this month, the firm added Martha Waltz, a Massachusetts state representative who formerly practiced in-house at the publishing giant Harcourt General, Inc.
Over the last several months, the Firm has added a number of key clients, in a range of industries, including financial services, high technology, healthcare, insurance and reinsurance, hospitality and retail. The addition of the new attorneys reflects Littler's success in the Boston market and its capacity to extend its services to the region's largest employers.
"Spearheading our strategy to establish a presence throughout New England, George is the right person at the right time to make Litter's resources and expertise available to our clients and prospects in Rhode Island," said Casey. "We are thrilled to have him!"
