30 April 2006

The following is being issued by Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley:

WHAT:

The law firm of Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley will hold a news conference to discuss a significant case filed on behalf of a woman who lost her eye because of a fungal keratitis infection. The woman, an active senior and member of the South Florida community, contracted one of the worse cases of fungal keratitis on record. The infection was caused by use of Bausch & Lomb ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens solution.

WHEN:

Tuesday, May 2, 2006, 9:00 a.m. EDT

WHERE:

Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley

2139 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd.

West Palm Beach, FL 33409

WHY:

In April 2006, Bausch & Lomb recalled its shipment of the product ReNu with MoistureLoc after health officials in Singapore discovered 39 cases of a dangerous fungal infection, fusarium keratitis, in patients who had used the solution.

Just before the shipment suspension, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) issued another warning indicating an increasing number of fungal infections by contact lens wearers. According to reports, patients using the product have sustained serious injuries including scarring, blindness, and, most recently, surgical removal of the eye.

HOW:

The news conference will also be available by conference call. To access the news conference by telephone call 1-888-622-5357. A conference operator will greet callers and place them in cue on a first-come, first-serve basis. Questions and answers will follow the conference. Callers should ask for the Searcy Denney news conference, confirmation number #153368.
