Law Firm Departmentalizes

The Law Offices of Samuel Z. Brown is working to be ready for their most important client – you. As part of its ongoing expansion to meet the needs of its growing clientele, the firm announced its recent departmentalization. The restructuring now permits the firm to serve a greater number of clients in more areas of the law. The five newly formed departments include: Real Estate and Business; Family Law; General Litigation; Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice; and Elder Law. As part of their expansion, the firm has also been actively recruiting new attorneys, as well as, support staff, to meet the firm’s growth.


The newly formed Real Estate and Business Department is being chaired by Samuel Z. Brown, managing partner of the firm. The scope of the firm’s real estate practice includes residential and commercial real estate matters, including the purchase, sale and refinancing of real estate and property, planning board and zoning board applications, variance and changes of use, partition actions, landlord tenant matters, property right issues and real estate tax appeals. The department will also focus on providing business services to their clients, including mergers and acquisitions, the preparation of business agreements, and the purchase and sale of businesses, in addition to assisting clients with corporate tax planning, entity selection and identification of finance sources.


The Family Law Department is chaired by Leah Lederberger. The firm’s family law practice focuses on issues surrounding marriage and the dissolution of marriage. Specifically, this department assists clients with divorce, alimony, child support and custody issues. In addition, their attorneys regularly handle matters involving the Divisions of Youth and Family Services (DYFS).


The General Litigation Department is chaired by Amy L. Bennecoff. This department represents clients in a variety of disputes, from complex constitutional matters to traffic violations in municipal court. Specifically, the department focuses on contract and business disputes, securities litigation, construction issues, constitutional matters, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, equity court matters, employment issues, as well as municipal court matters.


The Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice Department is also chaired by Ms. Bennecoff. The firm represents both plaintiffs and defendants in matters involving personal injury and medical malpractice claims. The department primarily focuses on accidents, wrongful death claims, medical malpractice, premises liability and products liability. Monique White, Esq. recently joined the firm and will be acting as the Head of Medical Review within this department.


Finally, the Elder Law Department is chaired by Christine O’Donnell. The firm traditionally provided estate planning services, including the preparation of wills, trusts, health care proxies, powers of attorney, and advanced health care directives, and tax planning in addition to estate administration and probate services. However, with the addition of Ms. O’Donnell, this new department will also focus on guardianships.
