15 November 2005

McDermott Will & Emery is further enhancing its 175+ lawyer Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department with the addition of a New York-based intellectual property litigation group, led by Dennis Mondolino. Mr. Mondolino and his group, including five partners, one counsel and a dozen associates and paraprofessionals, will add significantly to the Firm's intellectual property litigation practice. "We are excited to add this substantial group of litigators to our New York practice," commented Peter Sacripanti, head of the Firm's New York office. "Intellectual property is an area of strength for McDermott, and the addition of these outstanding lawyers complements the significant growth and development of our broad service offering in the New York market." As head of the group, Mr. Mondolino was formerly a named partner at the New York IP boutique, Hopgood, Calimafde, Judlowe and Mondolino, and most recently practiced at Morgan Lewis. The partners in the group include Lisa Ferri, Michael Hurley, Jason Lief and Richard Pettus. "With this addition in New York we now have a formidable IP litigation presence in each of our eight U.S. offices, in addition to our European offices," commented Ray Lupo, head of the Firm's Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department. "Dennis and his group will be especially effective in advancing our pharmaceutical focus as part of our expanding life sciences IP practice." Mr. Mondolino focuses primarily on patent and complex trade secret litigation, including substantial experience in pharmaceutical Hatch-Waxman litigations. He is an experienced trial and appellate lawyer with more than 20 years of experience, who has participated in more than 100 patent disputes and has acted as lead trial counsel in approximately two dozen patent-related cases with a commensurate number of arguments before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. "McDermott provides us with the opportunity to establish and fully integrate a New York IP practice with a substantial existing international IP practice throughout the United States and Europe," commented Mr. Mondolino. "As part of McDermott's existing IP practice we are committed to its established excellence and its continued development."
