Human Science Systems Retains Intellectual Property Law Firm
18 May 2005Human Science Systems, Inc., (Pink Sheets:HMNS), a contact center consulting and software development firm, today announced that it has retained intellectual property attorney Robert Kain of Fort Lauderdale-based Fleit, Kain, Gibbons, Gutman, Bongini & Bianco, P.L., to assist the company in preparing and filing its first patent relating to contact center resource management (CCRM) software.
"The patent application being developed concerns technology and processes related to CCRM," stated Human Science Systems President Lou Mandic. "Our proprietary technology will create major enhancements to the collection and management of data in the contact center."
Mandic, who is also the inventor of the technologies being patented, continued: "These technologies are going to create a shift in the way contact centers do business. Our software will create significant, and sustained, competitive advantages for contact centers and will empower them to truly leverage the vast amount of intelligence generated by their businesses each day."
Lou Mandic's career spans nearly three decades in the area of information management systems. He has managed technology divisions and projects for companies that include Citicorp, where he spent 16 years, IBM, and Vitas Healthcare Corporation. In 1994 Mandic joined Precision Response Corporation (PRC) as its first Chief Information Officer, a position he held through their 1996 Initial Public Offering and through which he helped manage the opening of nine Florida based contact centers for the company. PRC was subsequently acquired by USA Networks (now IAC/InterActiveCorp, NASD:IACI). While at PRC, Mandic spearheaded the initial funding of CELLIT Technologies, a company formed to develop computer telephony applications. CELLIT Technologies merged with call center technology veteran Davox Corporation in 2002, jointly becoming Concerto Software. In 1998, Mandic founded Concentric Enterprises, Inc., a contact center software reseller and consulting practice, and through this consulting practice identified the clear need for the products today developed by Human Science Systems.
Robert Kain has practiced Intellectual Property (I.P.) law in South Florida for many years. His B.E. Degree in Electrical Engineering and his Law Degree from Vanderbilt University, received in 1978, provided a foundation for his experience in U.S. and international I.P. matters and in the highly technical fields of computer and Internet Law. Before Returning to Florida in 1986, Kain was patent counsel for General Electric and worked in Washington, D.C. with Martin Fleit at Fleit, Jacobson, Cohn and Price. Kain is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to the Bars of Florida, New York, the District of Columbia, numerous U.S. District Courts and many U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals. Kain taught patent law, as an adjunct professor of law, at Nova Southeastern University law school, lectures at various CLE seminars and has published law reviews and law related articles in the I.P. field for publications that include Intellectual Property Today, the Miami/Broward Daily Review, and the Florida Bar Journal.
