Free Website for Lawyers Terrified of new Attorney Liabilities under Bankruptcy Reform law - BAPCPA.

16 October 2005

Sweeping bankruptcy reform laws taking effect on October 17, 2005 will impose radical new liabilities on bankruptcy attorneys. These new laws, collectively called BAPCPA, have many lawyers worried and confused about how to conduct business. A new website has been launched to help lawyers find resources to comply with these new laws.

The BAPCPA (Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention Consumer Protection Act of 2005) has generated massive national media attention highlighting its impact on consumers seeking chapter 7 protection. However, the impact that BAPCPA regulations will have on lawyers who counsel these consumers is often minimized or absent from these reports. Many lawyers are concerned that liabilities imposed by these new laws will force them to abandon this area of legal practice. To help attorneys learn about their obligations and responsibilities under this new bankruptcy law, a free website www.BAPCPA.com has been developed and launched.

Ben Arnold, founder of the www.bapcpa.com states, “I saw a need for a single place where attorneys could learn about BAPCPA, and find resources to make their businesses safe and efficient”. Arnold continued, “any attorney can visit the site to find resources relevant to their specific needs”. Access to www.BAPCPA.com is free, through the end of 2005 and perhaps longer says Arnold. For additional information on attorney liability under BAPCPA and bankruptcy reform, contact Ben Arnold or visit www.BAPCPA.com.
