Busted Black Power Crime Ring Should Be AWarning To The Extent Of Criminal Offending

"TheAssociation congratulates South Auckland Police on the hardwork that resulted in the bust of an organised crime ringrun by the Black Power gang yesterday. It exposes theextent of offending and the amount of money these organisedcrime groups are making from preying on the more vulnerable," said Greg O'Connor, President of the NZ PoliceAssociation today.

"This is just one gang of many andsome more sophisticated than this one," said Greg O'Connor."Police need the resources to continue to hammer everycriminal gang in NZ, in a similar way every year, not everyfive or ten years. We need to be able to deal not just thefirst blow, but a second and a third, until we deal amortal blow."

"We need a co-ordinated approach across thecommunity to ensure gangs are not an attractive option orrole models for our young, including banning gang patchesand seizing assets."
