Breast Implant Misfortune: an Enduring Legal Battle

In December 1991, lawyers representing a woman who alleges breast implant linked illness won $7.5million jury award including $6.5 million in punitive damages.

The legal battle continues up to this present time. The only difference now is that the court requires a reasonable proximate cause over the injury or illness. It must not be a product of the rich imagination rather a fact proven by substantial evidence.
