Auto Club Claims Adjusters Sent to Gulf Coast to Assist Hurricane Victims

8 September 2005

Insurance claims adjusters from the Automobile Club of Southern California's affiliated insurance company are being sent to the Gulf Coast to help with property damage claims from AAA members in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Six adjusters are currently working out of AAA Missouri offices (AAA Missouri owns the AAA clubs in Louisiana and Mississippi) and up to 100 more may be sent to Louisiana and Mississippi once claims adjusters have more access to the areas damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

"The amount of damage done by the hurricane is overwhelming for local resources," said Cortland Ray, vice president of insurance claims for the Auto Club. "We want to do everything we can to help its victims restart their lives by getting their property damage claims settled quickly. We are pleased we can assist another AAA club with their efforts to service their policyholders."

The Auto Club has also donated $30,000 to the Red Cross for disaster relief. The Red Cross was given $10,000 to use for general relief and Red Cross chapters in Houston and Dallas are receiving $10,000 each to help with evacuees from the Gulf Coast.

The Automobile Club of Southern California, the largest affiliate of the AAA, has been serving members since 1900. Today, the Auto Club's members benefit by roadside assistance, insurance products and services, travel agency, financial products, automotive pricing, buying and financing programs, automotive testing and analysis, trip planning services and highway and transportation safety programs.
