ATF: Reward Offered in Gun Theft

21 April 2006

Valerie J Goddard, Special Agent in Charge of the Michigan Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), announced today that ATF is offering a reward of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the theft of firearms on April 10 from the federally licensed firearms dealer, Lock, Stock and Barrel in Oscoda Township, Michigan.

"Theft of firearms from licensed firearms dealers is a top priority for ATF. Our experience shows that these guns quickly become used in violent crimes," said SAC Goddard.

The Oscoda Township Police Department and ATF are requesting the public's help in solving this crime. In addition to the $1,000 reward from ATF, Crime Stoppers is also offering a reward.

Anyone with information is requested to call the anonymous, toll-free ATF Hotline at 1-800-ATF-GUNS (1-800-283-4867) or Crime Stoppers' 1-800-422-JAIL (1-800-422-5245).
