"Lawyers Without Rights" Exhibit to appear in Ottawa for the first time

"Lawyers Without Rights" is an exceptional Exhibit of letters, photographs and documents that focus on the personal experience of German-Jewish lawyers after Hitler's rise to power.


This Exhibit has appeared in 35 German cities as well as the German Parliament, in Israel, the United States and Mexico. It has also been a part of Holocaust Education Weeks in Montréal and Toronto this month.

The Exhibit is open to the public in the Mayor's Gallery at Ottawa City Hall from November 16 - 22; weekdays from 8:30am to 4:30pm; Saturday and Sunday 1:00pm to 5:00pm.


Originally mounted by the German Federal Bar and German Jurists Association, this Exhibit is sponsored by Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies, the German Embassy and the Israeli Embassy.


Speakers at the opening Reception will be: H. E. Alan Baker, Ambassador of Israel; Bob Chiarelli, Mayor of Ottawa; Lutz Diwell, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Justice; the Hon. Justice Marshall Rothstein; Supreme Court of Canada; Dr. Norbert Westenberger, Representative of the German Bar Association and Leo Adler, Director of National Affairs, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies.
